This article discusses the patterns of cyberbullying that occur on social media platform, focusing on online media coverage in the year 2021. The article also examines destructure digital practices such as hate spech and harmful content. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, social media has become an alternative platform where social interactions have shifted to the digital realm. This eventh has increased online activities for individuals forced to isolate themselves and has led to the development of new communication and interactions methods. Often, interactions in the virtual world can prompt users to behave aggressively, dangerously, or intimidatingly. Unlizing the Online Disinhibition Theory this article delves int the contradictions surrounding cases of cyberbullying against celebrities through secondary data from online media. The data found three categories of cyberbulliying toward celebrities; harassment, flaming, and denigration. In accordance with the online disinhibition factors, the data correspond with four factors; invisibility, anonymity, asynchronicity, and minimisation of status and authority. Understanding this topic may increase public awareness and help them navigate social media avoiding harmful acts toward anyone, including public figures.
